Providing Capability Assurance
Kōtare personnel have been involved in training, planning, delivery and reporting Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) for well over a decade.
The exemplar Practitioner Course became a community of practice for those attending and was a template for good training. It was the first (and last) time where domain leads briefed the attendees of their specific domain related requirements and where available Capability Integration Leads (CIL) brief the specific challenges and successes within their project.
Kōtare has been involved in all Operational Testing for all major Maritime Projects from the Frigate Platform Systems Upgrade in 2011 through to the Dive Hydro Vessel over a decade later.
A specific highlight was the Test Event on the Amphibious and Military Sealift Vessel HMNZS Canterbury which was NZ’s first Joint Operational Test and Evaluation (JOTE) with Air Force helicopters, Army medics and Ship Amphibious Logistics Team (SALT) supporting the capability to provide Joint effect.
A further highlight was the Test Event on the Dive Hydro Vessel which involved sourcing actual plane wreckage and placing it on the seabed for the ship to find and recover.
The most recent Test Event was the Maritime Sustainment Capability (HMNZS Aotearoa) while participating in the world’s largest maritime exercise, Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) in Hawaii.
Kōtare has more Test and Evaluation capability than any other provider in NZ.
