Kōtare personnel have been involved in delivering the exemplar Practitioner Course which became a community of practice for those attending. It was the first (and last) time where domain leads briefed the attendees of their specific domain related requirements and where available Capability Integration Leads (CIL) brief the specific challenges and successes within their project.
Kōtare has been involved in all Operational Testing for all major Maritime Projects from the Frigate Platform Systems Upgrade in 2011 through to the Dive Hydro Vessel in 2023. A particular highlight was the Test Event on the Amphibious and Military Sealift Vessel which involved NZ’s first Joint Operational Test and Evaluation (JOTE) with Air Force helicopters, Army medics and Ship Amphibious Logistics Team (SALT) supporting the Maritime capability to provide Joint effect.
A further highlight was the Test Event on the Dive Hydro Vessel which involved sourcing actual plane wreckage and placing it on the seabed for the ship to find and recover.
The most recent testing was onboard Maritime Sustainment Capability (HMNZS Aotearoa) in 2022 while exercising in the world’s largest maritime exercise, Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) in Hawaii.
Kōtare has more Test and Evaluation capability than any other provider in NZ.
