Kōtare Group Limited has successfully delivered a comprehensive new online training package for Class 9 Repair Parts, utilising our logistics and engineering subject matter experts, in-house learning designer, and professional videographer. While the primary client was the New Zealand Army, the training package has been designed for applicability across the wider NZ Defence Force (NZDF).

Our project began with a site visit to Linton Camp, where our Logistics Specialist and Videographer gathered essential insights. From there, we advanced through multiple work streams to meet the project’s demanding timelines. Most training material was sourced from existing NZDF publications and developed into interactive presentations for client review.

In parallel, we produced video-based instruction featuring voice-over support from Army personnel. A third work stream focused on close collaboration with the NZ Defence College to ensure full compliance with the updated Defence Manual of Learning (DMoL) requirements, ensuring the College was fully prepared to seamlessly receive the new courses into their learning management system.

The training package includes two distinct courses:

  • Introductory Course – providing an overview for personnel involved with Class 9 Repair Parts.

  • Practitioner Course – an in-depth programme featuring video instruction, interactive quizzes, and practical learning activities.

Kōtare successfully managed scope growth in this project, maintaining high standards of stakeholder engagement and quality assurance throughout.

Using our expertise with the Articulate 360 platform, we ensured a highly collaborative development process. Weekly updates and live reviewer access to the course as it developed allowed NZDF stakeholders to provide direct feedback on every slide and video, resulting in a polished and effective final product.

By combining deep expertise in training design and logistics, our team delivered an exemplar learning solution with dynamic content, structure, and assessments. Stakeholder feedback reinforced this outcome, noting the “great outcome of this work” and describing the collaboration as “fantastic.” Others highlighted that it was “really easy to work with people who have had military backgrounds and can relate well with the subject requirements” and that the team was “easy to get along with… listened and implemented changes as required without fuss.” This feedback underscores Kōtare Group’s commitment to delivering tailored, high-quality, and innovative learning solutions that strengthen defence capability.
