Kōtare Group Limited collaborated with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) to deliver a detailed assessment of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) considerations for IT assets and services within the Defence Information Environment. The project aimed to enhance lifecycle management, cost-effectiveness, and operational reliability by aligning the ILS framework with IT Service Management (ITSM) practices, such as the globally recognised ITIL framework.
We developed strategies to address lifecycle challenges, focusing on improving system reliability, reducing costs, and managing risks associated with system downtime, obsolescence, and cybersecurity. By integrating ITIL’s service-oriented principles, such as standardisation, risk management, and continuous improvement, we enabled NZDF to optimise supportability across all phases of IT capability acquisition and sustainment.
This project provided NZDF with a comprehensive framework for managing IT assets and services, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards while supporting future scalability and flexibility. The outcome equips NZDF with the tools to make informed decisions about IT acquisitions, ensuring operational readiness and alignment with long-term Defence objectives, setting a benchmark for excellence in capability sustainment.
